brk 7010b smoke alarm manual
This hardwired smoke detector uses a photoelectric smoke sensor to reliably detect smoke produced by smoldering fires, helping give you a vital early warning of fire. A battery backup helps ensure seamless protection in the event of a power outage. The sensor is optimized to detect larger smoke particles produced by smoldering fires, such as those caused by unextinguished cigarettes. This allows the sensor to detect smoke, combustion particles, volatile components, and other fire signatures in the surrounding air more easily. Plug-in power connectors allow you to easily connect the alarm to an existing power source, making installation even easier. AC-powered smoke alarms must be installed in accordance with all local electrical codes. The unit comes with a 9-volt battery and features an easy-to-access battery drawer. It also integrates with up to six other compatible devices, such as bells, horns, and repeaters. If one alarm in the series is triggered, they will all sound. The alarm features a latching indicator to identify which unit triggered the alarm, alerting you to the area of danger. A simple test and we were good to go. Also was advised on order confirmation and date shipped. Product was exactly as ordered and packaged well. Very great value at a very great price. Our home has a different connector type but an adapter was included. What we were looking for. Came quickly by mail. The disk which attaches the unit to the ceiling also has to be replaced. The screws do not have to be taken out completely from the disk, just loosened enough so that the disk can pivot a few degrees and flipped out. Once that is done, replacing the disk and the unit is a breeze. Only point here would be that it sure would have been nice to have instructions to this end. Absence thereof, at least I saw nothing, just made a five minute no-brainer into a two hour head-scratcher, but then again, maybe I am slow I highly recommend the device.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to get an exhaust fan that handles the smoke from daily cooking. These fire alarms provide safety coverage while not going off every time my chef son-in-law cooks. This replacement order fit perfectly with the base and wiring that was already in place. Product performs perfectly. I can cook bacon again without having to waft the fire alarm. Wonderful upgrade! The detector arrived in good order and was easily installed using the old bracket from the existing First Alert alarm. Recommend everyone have at least one photoelectric alarm on each floor. However before I placed the order online I called and spoke with Rep. She was very helpful in helping me determine what model I needed to buy. And installation was very simple as I was replacing smoke detectors That were also from first alert So I was able to mount them on the same Bases which were already attached to my wall. They've worked well but recently starting to get brief false alarms. The triggering unit is indicated by a continual flashing red light, which is useful if the alarm stays on long enough for you to walk around the house to every alarm. NOTE: This latch information is NOT in the owners manual. A unit that previously triggered the alarm will flash 3 red lights every 45 seconds. A non-latched unit will flash 1 red light every 45 seconds. Hope this is helpful to someone else!I moved into a house with 5 of these and they started going off at 3am. I figured they were 8 years old so I chalked it up to the units' age and bought 5 more. In under 2 years the false alarms started up again. Today was my last straw as they were blaring for no reason when I walked in from work. God only knows how long my poor dog had to suffer listening to these pieces of garbage. I had no idea which unit was causing the issue since they all go off, sending me into a panic as I ripped them off the ceiling. I will NEVER purchase this brand again and am opting to have a security system to monitor actual functioning smoke alarm units that don't traumatize my family. I never leave reviews but I am just so angry that something that's supposed to give me piece of mind is now causing me stress and anxiety.Ridiculous that these go off for no apparent reason (usually at night or early in the morning) and die so often. Replacing this with another brand if I can. Hopefully with better luck. They have the better sensor and got great ratings but beware there are multiple complaints about them chirping intermittently. Its always a surprise the get an alarm but at two AM its a bummer. And when my eleven year golden retriever wakes up because he's scared of fireworks and other loud noises he won't let you go to sleep for hours. I reset the alarms, then one by one disabled them. Everyone of the alarms would let out three chirps whenever: 8AM, 2:40PM, 3AM, etc.I bought a few of these. The 2nd day I installed them.
One of them went off briefly midnight and stopped. There was no smoke at all but the siren is so loud that it woke up everyone. The problem is you don't know which one went off. There is supposed to be a blinking red light to tell you which one went off but none of these showed the red blinking light. Then I returned the one that I suspect most to Amazon. Just yesterday, around 11 pm, one of them went off again and lasted for about a minute and stopped. False alarm again and woke up everyone again. Still, no blinking light on any of them so I could not figure out which one went off. I had to remove all of them. There is obviously some quality issues with these alarm. Shame on you, First Alert. You simply did not realize how much trouble your product brought to our family when they went off falsely mid-night and woke up the kids. The new First Alerts were installed in the fall of 2018. They seemed to work fine and gave us no trouble for the first seven months. But by late spring and early summer 2019, we suffered four spontaneous false alarms in about one month, apparently triggered by nothing at all. Two of the four occurred late at night; I can’t tell you what a thrill it is to be awakened at 3 AM by loud sirens blaring throughout your house. Two false alarms were upstairs, two were on the first level of our house. As I mentioned, they were apparently caused by nothing at all. During the month we suffered these false alarms, I was in touch with First Alert tech support. They told me the usual thing: “Be sure to vacuum and test your units,” which I did, and did, and did. All to no avail. After the fourth false alarm, I’d had enough. I disconnected and de-powered the entire hardwired system. I called First Alert support and asked for my money back. They refused, telling me that they could only send me new replacement units. I was not interested in further experimentation with their defective products.
So all the money I spent on those new First Alert units is gone; wasted; a big mistake. Let the buyer beware. I replaced the new First Alert units with new Kidde photoelectric units.I called the manufacturer technical support and got through to them quickly. They suggested that I purchase a new battery from local outlet just to make sure of a fresh battery, but I decided not to and instead returned for exchange from Amazon (thank you, Amazon, for continued great service.) The second unit received did not have that problem. I trust that in event of actual fire all would work well. It was easy to install even given that I had to change out the older wire connector. In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. PRC 4.0 out of 5 stars Current recommendations from the experts is to get a mix of ionization and photoelectric. The ionization models alert faster to flaming fires, while photoelectric respond much quicker to fires in the smouldering stage.
These photoelectrics were installed inside the bedrooms. We also purchased 3 combination ionization and carbon monoxide detectors for the hallways outside the bedrooms and near the door out to the garage. If your detectors are hard wired, DO NOT mix them from different manufacturers, as they usually WILL NOT work well together. The only annoyance was that out of the 7 detectors, 3 had back-up batteries that were chirping due to a low charge. And another was dead. These did cost a little more than the cheapo junk on the market, BUT the lives of you and your family are worth a few more bucks. The combination detectors we used are the First Alert BRK SC9120B, also on Amazon.I'm not a professional, but I've read that combination ones (alarms that have photoelectric and ionization sensors) are made to be less sensitive due to false alarms, so I'd rather have dedicated photoelectric smoke alarms mixed with dedicated ionization alarms in the house. The install was super simple; the wiring harness is included for each so it was simply a matter of disconnecting the old ones and wiring in the new ones (don't forget to kill power to them to prevent getting zapped!) Overall I'd recommend these if you are looking for a photoelectric smoke alarm and need to purchase new or replace your old ones!Since the first month I had them, they would go off at random times for no reason at all. Many times in the middle of the night. I requested a refund which was immediately refuted by the seller. After much back and forth the seller convinced me that there was possibly something wrong with the wiring in the house. Since the units are all wired together so when one is triggered they all go off together, I thought there might be some validity to this claim. The units have behaved for the most part now for almost a year. Last night they all went off at 2AM and again, there was no reason they should have. No smoke in the house, no change in atmospheric pressure, no wind in the house.
all windows closed. No drastic change in temperature. In retrospect the units that I removed never gave me a bit of trouble. So sorry I picked these units. These smoke detectors made my dream come true. What was shipped was just a photoelectric. Both are essential for the areas I am placing them in. I am debating on whether to return or not!!It arrived sooner than expected. Had them installed. They look good and are unobtrusive to my decor. I highly recommend these smoke detectors. I thought they were very reasonably priced! The others were activated any time the wind blew dust around, much too sensitive to dirt in the air rather than smoke. I recommend.Bought these for an amazing price, easy to install, and look great! In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. The one in the living room was experiencing near death symptoms-alerting even with a new battery, alerting when the temperature in the room reached 90, etc. Rather than replace batteries, my son suggested buying new units. He installed four alarms in less than 20 minutes and I have no false alerts. Units come with batteries-a big plus. My order arrived well within the shipping estimate. Best price I could find on the Internet. Was this review helpful to you.
